Work in Progress...Three hares for Spring

I was encouraging my youngest to work on a school project and suddenly realized that I was trying to direct her work in a way she had not chosen...light bulb moment ..I wanted to make something. So leaving her to get on with her work I started my own project.
Inspiration Spring and my fascination with the Three Hares that appear in art work and have done for a very long time.
More info on the art work of three hares here....

I grabbed a piece of felt. A pen. Some felting needles and was off.
A quick and rather rough sketch straight on the felt.
Some blue and white wool roving and I needle felted away.
Black thread couched with blue silk as an outline.

More wool  and a little more thread work...bit stuck as I ran out of blue roving and it's out of stock at the store so now I'll have to wait for some in the mail..still what the heck I decided to leave a gap and carry on.
And this is as far as I've got ...goodness knows how it will end up ...but I'm definitely having fun!

    1. It's very easy Selma and I bet you'd have fun. I break the rules rather but as it's for fun and not posterity why not :o)
You just need a dense foam pad as a working base like this
      http://www.amazon.com/Dense-Foam-Needle-Felting-Pad/dp/B008J277MA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1426700064&sr=8-3&keywords=needle+felting+mat
      (not essential but really helps)
and then I use one of these
      http://www.amazon.com/Clover-Style-Needle-Felting-Tool/dp/B00172TD5S/ref=wl_mb_wl_huc_mrai_2_dp
      and a single needle

and with a piece of felt and some combed wool (roving) and you are off!

from an old gravestone

If you hold your nose to the Grindstone
and you leave it there long enough,
Then soon you'll say
there's no such things
as brooks that babble
and birds that sing,
these three will all your world compose,
just you, the stone and your poor old nose.

(from memory so may not be word perfect)
