I bought a bundle of toweling washcloths (face flannels)in the sales and they included two white ones in the mix. Today I fancied making something with a bunny theme and I spied the washcloths in the bathroom cupboard and that settled that.
These are very simple bunny mitts made up as I went along.
First take a wash cloth and fold it in half then pinching one of the kids washable markers and a cereal bowl place the cereal bowl about two thirds of the way up the folded cloth and draw a half circle.
Cut along the line you've drawn.
Take the remaining piece and trim it so you have a thin rectangle.
fold this in half (now you have a thinner long rectangle. Pin right sides together.
Cut this into two pieces.These will be the ears.
Sew three sides of each ear (I curved the top line to give the ear a slightly pointed look)
Then using any available blunt tool turn the ear inside out. I used a fat crochet hook (wrong end)it was a bit tricky and I wished I'd made a fatter ear but with much pinching and gentle podding made it!
Do the same for the other ear.(at least you now know it's possible...still tricky though!)
Next Make sure you have the main mitt folded so the good side of the material is on the inside.
Lay the ears between the material ..bottom of ears stick out..pointy bits hidden.
Pin in place.
Now sew from the fold round the top (over the sandwiched in ears)and down the side.
Turn the Mitt right side out.
Now play around with a button until you decide where the nose will look good.
Sew on the button (taking care to just sew through one thickness of material...you are probably to bright to make this mistake but I once sewed something together...)
Then using a length of embroidery silk/floss make a few stitches for each eye and a few stitches for the whiskers.
And you have a bunny washcloth or two :0)
