Yarn Along 8

Joining Ginny's Yarn along again Thanks Ginny

She's going to be Reading a Josephine Tey that I loved :0)

I've just been rereading a Dick Francis Racing Mystery "Enquiry" that rattled along.
I remember my Grandfather who was a farmer and real horseman reading Dick Francis and Nat Gould.. I can see why.

Knitting I managed one square for my blanket trying "Coral knot stitch" for the first time...it was easy and is an interesting texture.

Coral knot stitch
multiple of 2 stitches plus 2
Row 1: K1, *k2 tog; repeat * to last stitch, k1
Row 2: K1,k1, pick up loop between this and next stitch and knit it; repeat from * to last stitch, k1
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Purl

I'll add a photo in the morning!here it is..

It's Spring break here and we've been busy ...that's my excuse, fighting off the local yukky bug of the moment we still managed to see the start of the Iditarod on Saturday, The Mammoths and Mastodons exhibit at the Museum on Sunday, Go skiing and sledding on Monday and Swimming today...and now we're tired ! but Happy :o)

Have a good week all!

  3. You've reminded me I started knitting blanket squares a couple of years ago. I knit quite a lot of them and then ran out of one of the colours and couldn't find further supplies. Haven't read any Dick Francis but I loved Josephine Tey's The Franchise Affair.

  4. I'm so looking forward to seeing your square. You must be such a fast reader. My pile of squares is growing, but my pile of books is just developing a layer of dust. Hmm. Must rethink strategy.

    Enjoy your break.

  9. Hi Rosy ..I'll go upload the photo! Thanks for the kind wishes so far I'm well but my Husband caught the bug and as he is a teacher and it's his Spring break too..this was bad timing ..still he's fighting the bug off gallantly :0)

    Hi Caitlin..photo on it's way :0)

Hi Liz..I think our blanket will be a motley affair of yarns, patterns and colours ..hopefully beautiful! but if not at least it will be interesting.... lol
btw I loved the Franchise affair..Have you read Bratt Farrar ? (might have spelled that wrong?)

Cheryl..I cast off on the wrong row so it looks a little pulled in at the top ...if I block it I think it'll be ok. I read faster than I knit...in fact I do almost everything faster than I knit ..lol
and actually in order to get back to reading again ..I'm cheating by focusing on rereading old favourites...it's really helping my ability to focus and enjoy the plot! and now I'm sneaking in an occasional new book by Jill Paton Walsh..yipee

Hi MJ... photo up in a few minutes honest :0)

Hi Kaylana ..Thanks for the kind wishes..I know what you mean about seeing to learn ..have you visited Heidi's blog? she has great tutorials

  13. Hi Jane ...I do enjoy a good DF ..I think I generally prefer his earlier books to later. I must admit he was the rare author who I would buy as soon as he appeared on the shelves of the Local Smith's and I'd buy the Hardback copy...a somehow sinful pleasure :0)

from an old gravestone

If you hold your nose to the Grindstone
and you leave it there long enough,
Then soon you'll say
there's no such things
as brooks that babble
and birds that sing,
these three will all your world compose,
just you, the stone and your poor old nose.

(from memory so may not be word perfect)
