(A bit more) Summer at Eklutna

Eklutna is a glacial fed lake that is smaller in the spring than in the Autumn

the above photo was taken in July by the end of August all the eel grass area you can see has been covered by several feet of water.
Eklutna has several inviting trails

So if you have energy you can run about
through woodland


Look at the Mountains...


or...

along the lakeside trail ..it's seven miles long from campground to campground..there are campgrounds at either end of the lake, to get to the far campground you must walk, bike, ride a horse or travel by 4 wheeler (allowed on the trail Sunday to Wednesday..I think) or you can Kayak or canoe down the lake.

We are lucky and have two tandam Kayaks

so are starting to explore the lake

I'm a beginner so far prefer the lake when it's pretending to be a mirror!

We paddle for a while (well some of us do!)

then find a nice spot to build a shelter

Make tea and cook hot dogs and smores

it's best not to overcook the marshmallow...
then you paddle back to the campground play cards
(Gin rummy for the grownups, Go-fish and Old Maid for all)



then an evening stroll by the lakeside before bed.
