Musings on the Adventure of Kittens...

The Black kitten has already taken a dip in the larger fish tank.... and the result was the end of one poor fish but by, accident not design. He managed to knock the whole lid affair into the tank and hit a small fish with it ..I don't expect he even noticed this as he was so keen on getting his dripping wet furry behind out of the water... very embarrassing for an avid hunter . It put him off for a while ..but only for a while ..now the tanks have tank covers plus..pieces of wood, mesh and a baking/cookie tray..it really adds to the elegant look we planned.

He obviously believes himself to be a rather suave, elegant and efficient warrior ...and he looks the part I may say.. the fact that life has other plans for our chap must be a source of great frustration. When he leaped at speed onto the table top and straight into his target box I really don't think he expected the box to shoot off the table at speed carrying him with it! It landed upside down on the floor so he sat on it and washed his face nonchalantly  ....just in case we got the false impression that such a trick was an accident.

Some one is telling tales..it's not fair!

The revolving top stool that is in the kitchen occasionally causes interesting variations ..of course he hadn't meant to land neatly on top ...swinging round while holding on by his front paws whilst his body swung out like a fairground ride was on purpose ...just perhaps a little unexpected mind.

He is a glossy black cat/kitten...with a tiny mew and a rather huge personality. Woe betide anyone who thinks they can visit the bathroom unaccompanied ..it's just not going to happen....ever. I did try firmly shutting the door ...and I really didn't think the gap under the door was big enough for paws to reach under ...it is though and the lino doesn't appreciate what those paws can do when thwarted ...it's easier to let them in. A little disconcerting when you are relaxing in the bath to find the black cat thinks he might like to join you...and balances on the side...now I don't know about you but I find relaxation goes out of the window at the thought of a small black cat falling into the bath tub and deciding I was his island ...I have a healthy respect for those claws and have no wish to imitate a pincushion. I started by sliding down the tub to the taps ...much to his surprise ..where was I going? then when after dipping a tentative paw in to check the water he started to slip I'm afraid I had to resort to giving him a swift shove onto the bath mat and all was well ...even if he was a little surprised "she didn't want to share the bath..how selfish" you could see it run through his mind .

He greets you by placing his paws on your shoulders or chest and butting you on the chin with his face, whilst either gazing adoringly into your eyes with the full force of his slightly amber eyes or with his eyes squeezed tight shut in a look of sleepy bliss...very engaging either way.

The kind lady who raised him believes he is at least part Burmese and indeed he does look and act the part.

His adopted sister is an incredibly fluffy tortoiseshell and white cat/kitten whose eyes may be considered (by  a harsh critic mind) to be a tad too close together ... she has an incredibly loud purr, and I do mean loud ..the sort of loud that when it sits on your chest in the middle of the night makes you think sleep is impossible and the risk of getting a headache great... she is however a charmer and also a wonderful mouser ..a job she takes very seriously. She has the lightest and most accurate leaps I've seen by a cat. ...she also has an affinity for bags and climbs into any available open bag. This resulted in a free ride through the house with my first thought being "I thought I'd put away all the shopping" and of course I had ..just not the cat and she didn't panic just glared rather at me for the rude interruption to her nap in her new hiding spot. I was less enamored of her sneakily chewing the wires of my new and best earbuds ...they were lovely....
 Caught in the act ....
 The sad remains....

Who me?

from an old gravestone

If you hold your nose to the Grindstone
and you leave it there long enough,
Then soon you'll say
there's no such things
as brooks that babble
and birds that sing,
these three will all your world compose,
just you, the stone and your poor old nose.

(from memory so may not be word perfect)
