Crayon cookies?

Ok what do you do with a child at home from school with a sore throat... apart from sliced oranges and honey toast and glasses of water that is?

You try Cheryl's crayon tutorial....
find it here

It's brilliant....

We turned the oven on...275 degrees f
Raided our stash of broken crayons...we have lots
found some cookie trays and peeled and arranged...
baked for about 10 mins ..until they looked liquid
carefully removed (ok I made a hash of carefully)
let them cool and then they will gently drop out (with a little help..some love to stay in the pan but they give up in the end...lol)

The results were great, quick and easy ...and it's not Cheryl's fault I have an awol brain...can you see the problem with the star tray ???

..designed to make lollipops...

ho-hum

yes the wax does escape where the Popsicle stick should go.....
and if you take the tray out of the oven with one hand whilst talking to your sister on the phone you too can make a wax trail from the oven to the kitchen table...

I now know how to make great wax crayon cookies...I also know a spatula or fish slice is great for removing wax from the floor (I enjoyed that part of the activity less)
I also now know not to use the lollypop trays . lol

fill tray with broken crayons...

out of the oven cooling..

When cool then gently remove (invert tray and shake...gently)

and you end up with...

This could become addictive...

  1. Val, those are awesome! Using the lollypop pan was classic. I would've done the exact same thing, except mine wouldn't have made it to the table! The wax would've burnt my hand, I would've screamed, and dropped the pan to the floor. You're a great sick-day mom.

  3. Hi Val. The crayons are lovely, especially the bunnies. I bet the tray makes great lollipops. I hope your little ones enjoyed making them.

  5. Ooh, lovely. It's a long time since I've had contact with wax crayons. Reminds me that a girl in my class in primary school used to nibble them. Good job those fancy shapes weren't around then.

from an old gravestone

If you hold your nose to the Grindstone
and you leave it there long enough,
Then soon you'll say
there's no such things
as brooks that babble
and birds that sing,
these three will all your world compose,
just you, the stone and your poor old nose.

(from memory so may not be word perfect)
