Finished...(well at least stopped adding any more)

The Wall hanging now hangs from the wall ....making it was great fun . There are things I would change ..things I have changed..lots of bits I would do differently...some of which I wish I had.
It's not balanced and has major flaws but I learned a lot from this piece and decided to stop and leave it as it is, and enjoy it for what it is.
A colourful experiment with pleasing aspects....and so much fun to do. It was such a nice change from the everyday aspects of life. When small things take over that shouldn't.
Working with rich colourful wool and cottons was really rewarding....now what to start next... several ideas are bubbling around in my head ....Ravens ? Wolves? Feathers?  all three ?   lol

Close ups of areas....

A huge THANK YOU for the Embroidery stitch "how to"   videos on you-tube posted by the Wonderful  Mary Corbet from www.NeedlenThread.com They are so clear and So helpful!

  1. It looks amazing. The colours are beautiful and I'm not surprised that you enjoyed making it. I have a soft spot for hares. If there are flaws, you will be the only one to see it, I suspect. Looking forward to seeing your next piece.

    1. Thank you Cath! It's rather slap and dash but it was fun.
The Hares idea is from the Three hares Project and I love the modern painting versions like Jackie Morris's work ...but budget limitations and all that so a bit of diy :o) (Mind you her rendition is Quite Beautiful)

  5. I love your wall hanging. Where have you put it. I'm now beginning to wonder when I finish my numerous projects if I might not be tempted to start my own creation from being inspired by you. So beautiful and rich in everything.

    1. It's very easy Selma ..just a piece of cheap felt, some dyed yarn and then a pack of inexpensive embroidery cotton and you can pin it up on the wall when you're not actually working on it . (I use a piece of foam to work on and just a couple of felting needles ) I'll try and do a post later this week on what you need ...I'm sure you'd find it fun!

from an old gravestone

If you hold your nose to the Grindstone
and you leave it there long enough,
Then soon you'll say
there's no such things
as brooks that babble
and birds that sing,
these three will all your world compose,
just you, the stone and your poor old nose.

(from memory so may not be word perfect)
