Judith Kerr Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit on Radio 4

Judith Kerr's books have long been favourites of both my and my children's childhood's. Who can resist the idea of A tiger coming to tea?

Or the adventures of a not very bright but charming cat called Mog? We certainly can't!

So it was lovely to find out that the first book of Judith Kerr's trilogy for older children and adults  has been dramatized and will be broadcast on Sunday on radio 4 as the Classic serial.

Out of the Hitler Time: When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit
By Judith Kerr, dramatised by Beaty Rubens.
The first book of the internationally acclaimed trilogy tells the story of a Jewish family forced to flee from Germany in 1933 - told from the perspective of nine year old Anna.

  1. Such a favourite in this house too. I remember being fascinated when she was on Desert Island Disc. I shall have to add the Pink Rabbit to our list. I know eldest would love it.

from an old gravestone

If you hold your nose to the Grindstone
and you leave it there long enough,
Then soon you'll say
there's no such things
as brooks that babble
and birds that sing,
these three will all your world compose,
just you, the stone and your poor old nose.

(from memory so may not be word perfect)
