Essential equipment ....Camp dog

Duties.
Guards the camp.

Woofs to alert bears of our presence to avoid accidental encounters getting water from the river.. (speaks on request)
Warm cuddler on wet days.....
and  early morning guarding of children when parents are up and about getting mugs of tea (other interpretation is he likes a lie in)

Pillow substitution.

Indicator of wildlife...much excited wiggling on the end of the leash....of course it's usually a squirrel, marmot oyster catcher rather than a bear (fine by us!)

Main ambition ...not being left behind at home!

    1. He gets so worried when he sees us packing ..I think he thinks we'd leave him behind!

from an old gravestone

If you hold your nose to the Grindstone
and you leave it there long enough,
Then soon you'll say
there's no such things
as brooks that babble
and birds that sing,
these three will all your world compose,
just you, the stone and your poor old nose.

(from memory so may not be word perfect)
