Gosh, I remember falling in love with The Scarlet Pimpernel as a teen. Thought it was *wonderful* And Lost Horizons... must get that one and reread to see if I still love it. I remember reading Journey to the Centre of the Earth and liking it but found another JV, started a couple of years ago, unreadable. Some authors don't stand the test of time I find.
ReplyDeleteSome just don't work do they..they sometimes work better as a read aloud not least because the audience doesn't want to stop at passages I'd be ready to quit at! and when we get past that bit it improves ? sometimes it's the book sometimes I think it's my reading stamina? I know I listen to classics far more than I read them nowadays.
